McLaren's Lando Norris Claims Debut Formula One World Championship in Yas Marina Despite Verstappen's Race Victory.
With a performance full of gutsy racing, the McLaren driver has won his maiden F1 world title by achieving a podium finish at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Third place was sufficient for the 26-year-old driver, despite the fact that Red Bull's Max Verstappen took the victory and his teammate at McLaren Oscar Piastri came home in second.

As Norris was crowned the first Briton to take the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2020, the difference in fortunes between the two was stark. While the new generation fought for the title, Hamilton, the grand champion, could only finish eighth place in Abu Dhabi, a dismal ending to a dismal season with Ferrari.
His first season with the Scuderia had been met by enthusiasm but has yielded what was comfortably his worst season ever, finishing sixth in the championship and failing to secure a top-three finish. He has looked jaded in the closing races and will aim to reset over the off-season.
