Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
