The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
